The Minima is designed to produce an exceptional espresso, precisely control temperature, and steam milk efficiently – all essential features for a high-performing prosumer machine.
Espresso Preparation
To achieve excellent espresso, one needs quality fresh coffee, a reliable grinder, and a machine that can maximize the potential of these elements. The Minima utilizes a superior and costly stainless steel (AISI 316L) boiler for brewing and a separate service boiler for steam/hot water. As a dual boiler machine, the Minima separates brewing and steaming functions, employing a sophisticated PID controller to manage temperature accurately. Its brew boiler has a perfect 800 ml capacity and is governed by its own PID function. The Minima features an aesthetically pleasing and high-quality E61 group head design, which facilitates a continuous water flow between the brew boiler and the group, maintaining the proper temperature for coffee extraction.
Milk Steaming
Despite the Minima's compact size, it boasts an unusually large service boiler, possibly the largest among prosumer PID-controlled dual boiler machines. The impressive 2.3-litre capacity makes it a highly proficient steamer, and the PID electronic temperature control, operating as a full-power on/off controller, enhances performance while being more reliable than older pressurestat designs. ACS includes two steam tips with the Minima: a large 3-hole tip for experienced users and a slower, smaller 2-hole tip for novices.
Last Shot Protection (LSP)
The Minima's LSP feature ensures that the low water system doesn't switch off the pump during a shot, allowing the shot to continue until the end. Once the shot is finished, the machine will display "H2O" and disable the pump, preventing further shots until the tank is refilled. This prevents wasted shots due to low water levels in the internal water tank.
Vibration Pump
The Minima's vibration pump is specifically selected to provide an optimal flow rate while maintaining minimal noise levels. Although vibration pumps produce a distinct sound, the placement and design of the Minima have reduced noise and eliminated rattling, which is common in some vibration pump machines.
